BA in Psychology

Overview
Beginning Fall 2012, CSU Channel Islands (CI) will offer a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree completion program in partnership with Santa Barbara City College. The program offers an accelerated schedule and guaranteed course registration whereby students can earn a BA in Psychology from CI in 18 months. Students must earn 70 transferable units, including general education and program requirements, from the community college or other accredited institution prior to admissions. In the proposed accelerated schedule, 6-9 units will be offered in 12-week sessions year-round with classes held on Friday evenings and 8 AM to 6 PM Saturdays. Time to degree completion will increase for students taking fewer than 9 units. CI Psychology instructors will teach all classes. Psychology faculty and CI staff will hold office hours and advising on the SBCC campus.

As a condition of graduation, all students must take a minimum of 9 units of upper division interdisciplinary General Education courses through CSU Channel Islands. Courses to be offered for the SBCC Partnership program will be pre-selected by Psychology faculty in consultation with CI advisors.
Admissions
California State University Transfer Requirements:
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. Minimum GPA of 2.4 required for California nonresidents.
Completion of a minimum of 60 transferable semester units. However, students must earn a minimum of 70 transferable lower division units to complete the degree.
TOEFL score required for foreign students.
