John Lu, Ph.D. has been named the Academic Program Director of CSUCI’s MBA program as well as the Co-Director of the MS Biotechnology/MBA Dual Degree program.
Lu’s knowledge in the field of business stems back to his graduate economics training at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and extensive leadership experience in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining CSUCI, he was the Director of Global Health Economics at Amgen.
The vision for CSUCI’s MBA program should be to “deliver superior value for money in MBA education to as many academically qualified students as feasible”, Lu says. He believes a master’s degree in business administration in today’s job market will yield a good return in career and earnings trajectory. He praises the quality work of colleagues, the continued dedication of faculty and administration, and the commitment and perseverance of students for the overall success of the MBA and MS/MBA Dual Degree programs.
Under the leadership of Lu, the two programs admitted its largest combined cohort of new students in the fall of 2019, and is attracting more applicants each semester. The accelerated programs are both affordable and flexible, and prepare future business and science leaders with a rigorous program grounded in real-world applications.
Lu recently co-authored a policy book with the late Professor Stuart Schweitzer, a noted health economist at the University of California, Los Angeles: Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy: Perspectives, Promises, and Problems (Oxford University Press). Lu’s academic reputation and real world business experience make him an ideal choice to lead CSUCI’s MBA program.
