What You’ll Do

  • Spend 10 days learning outdoors through hikes, tidepools, and fieldwork.
  • Study geology, ecology, botany, and cultural history in an immersive setting.
  • Live and learn as a community at SRIRS — cooking, exploring, and collaborating.
  • Gain perspective, knowledge, and lifelong connections.

Costs & Support

All non-tuition expenses (housing, meals, island travel, materials) are covered by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation.
Students pay tuition only (approx. $1,095 total).
Bring your own personal gear (e.g., hiking boots, sleeping bag).


What to Expect

  • Hike 2–14 miles per day and participate fully in team-based field activities.
  • Facilities include indoor bunks, electricity, and running water.
  • Limited connectivity — full engagement encouraged!
