You are now one step closer to earning your MS in Nursing! This page will provide you the details you need to complete the admissions process.

To apply, just follow these four easy steps:

  • Step 1

    Learn about the MS Nursing program at CSU Channel Islands and your eligibility.

  • Step 2

    Apply to CSU Channel Islands through Cal State Apply and to the Nursing Program through Nursing CAS

  • Step 3

    Submit documents and test scores from all institutions you have attended via NursingCAS.

  • Step 4

    Submit Intent to Enroll and deposit.

You will be notified of your admissions status by email. If you are accepted, you will receive a custom link to submit the $250 non-refundable payment within twenty days of program acceptance. The payment will be applied to your first semester tuition.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a university which has been regionally accredited by CCNE, CNEA, or ACEN.
Foreign nurses will be considered for admission pending official evaluation of their transcripts.

• Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better and minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last sixty semester units.
• Valid RN licensure.
• Minimum of one-year relevant full-time clinical experience within the last 3 years.

Required Documentation

The following documentation is required:

  • Applicants must submit official transcripts of prior academic work
  • Current RN license
  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation dated within one-year of application (one academic and one professional)
  • Professional resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A 500-word statement explaining academic and professional goals.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better and minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last sixty semester units.

Virtual interviews will be required.

Program Summary

Family Nurse Practitioner Emphasis

  1. Nursing Core:  24 units
  2. Family Nurse Practitioner Emphasis: 21 units
  3. Graduate Writing Assessment*

Nurse Educator Emphasis

  1. Nursing Core:  24 units
  2. Nurse Educator Emphasis: 15 units
  3. Graduate Writing Assessment*

*Prior to the awarding of the degree, writing proficiency is demonstrated by completion of NRS 508 with a grade of B or higher.

Post-Master's Certificate; Family Practitioner

  1. Prerequisite Courses:  0-9 units
  2. Required Courses: 21 units

Post-Master's Certificate; Nurse Educator

  1. Required Courses: 15 units

Making Your Deposit

Students have two options to make their deposits; either with checks made payable to CSU Channel Islands or money order.

By Credit Card

You will be notified of your admission status via email. If you are accepted, you will receive an email with a custom link to submit your Intent to Enroll along with $250 deposit. Please complete and submit as soon as possible. Your deposit will be applied to your first semester’s tuition.
