Check Out the Island Advantage Option

The Island Advantage Option provides interested students an opportunity to enroll in BSN courses from our ADN/RN to BSN program while also being enrolled in a California Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. The Island Advantage Option operates in the summer session through Extended University (EU)'s Open University. Enrolling in the Island Advantage Option does not make you a current student in the ADN/RN to BSN program. To become a program student participants must meet all admission requirements and apply to the program through Cal State Apply by the application deadline.

Each summer, the Island Advantage participants have the option to enroll in NRS 352 Health Promotion and Patient Education Strategies (3 units) or NRS 310 Transitions to Professional Nursing Practice (3 units). We recommend students enroll in one course per summer session, but  students may be able to enroll in both courses. Both courses are offered asynchronous online. Students who complete at least one course through the Island Advantage option with a "C" or higher will receive priority consideration for admission to the ADN/RN to BSN, as long as they have completed the application admission requirements. Upon admission to the ADN/RN to BSN program, students will receive credit for the Island Advantage courses completed toward BSN degree completion.
