You are now one step closer to earning your Bachelor of Science Nursing! This page will provide you the details you need to complete the admissions process

To apply, just follow these four easy steps:

  • Step 1

    Learn about the BS Nursing program at CSU Channel Islands and your eligibility.

  • Step 2

    Submit your applications.
    Apply through Cal State Apply.

  • Step 3

    Submit documents, including transcripts from all institutions you have attended in Cal State Apply.

  • Step 4

    Submit Intent to Enroll.

You will be notified of your admissions status by email. If you are accepted, and once you submit all of your documents, you will receive an Intent to Enroll form. Please complete the Intent to Enroll form and submit it as soon as possible to ensure yourself a place in the program.

Application Periods

Track II ADN/RN to BSN program:
We accept student applications through Cal State Apply during spring and summer semesters.

  • Spring 2026: Aug 1st - Nov 1st
  • Summer 2026: Dec 1st - March 31

Program Pre-Requisites

It is highly recommended that lower division General Education (GE) courses and University Graduation requirements be completed prior to starting the Nursing Program. More information about required lower division GE courses and University graduation requirements can be found by consulting the CSUCI Catalog: https://catalog.csuci.edu/

  • *American Institution Requirements : 6 Units Total
    • POLS 150 American Political Institutions or POLS 316 State & Local Politics & Policy (3), AND choose one course, 3 Units: Hist 270, HIST 271, HIST 272, HIST 275, or HIST 350
  • *GE (Area 3A) Language (3)
  • *GE (Area B4) Computers & Information Tech (not needed if GE certified)
  • *GE (Area C1) Art (3)
  • *GE (Area C2) Literature (not needed if GE certified)

*Not required for post-baccalaureate students.

  • BIOL 210 Anatomy and Physiology I (4)
  • BIOL 211 Anatomy and Physiology II (4)
  • BIOL 217 Medical Microbiology (4)
  • CHEM 110 Chemistry of Life (4)
    • (OR general or organic, with associated lab)
    • Cannot accept any fundamental or introductory level chemistry courses
  • COMM 101 Public Speaking (3)
  • ENGL 105 Composition Rhetoric (3)
  • BIO 203 (Statistics)
  • Completion of Critical Thinking course

Educational Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited BRN approved pre-licensure ADN program.
    OR
  • Hold a current RN license.

Grade Point Average:

  • An overall GPA of 2.5 or greater is required.
  • An overall GPA of 2.0 or greater in the prerequisite nursing courses with no grade lower than a C is required.

Resume:

  • Applicants must provide their resume with their nursing application.

Letters of Recommendation:

  • Two letters of recommendation are required to apply. One from a nursing professor from your current/recent nursing program and one from a professional setting.

Transcripts:

  • One set of OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS from every college/ university attended prior to application.
  • One set of official AP scores from College Board if applicable. 

How to Turn In Transcripts

Electronic

Electronic transcripts are preferred. You can request official electronic transcripts from your community college/university directly. If your school's transcript ordering system asks for a recipient name and email, please indicate CSU Channel Islands and ext@csuci.edu. We will not accept transcripts emailed to directly to our admissions office from the student.

  • Students are advised to have their general education courses “GE certified” and stamped on their transcripts from the community college.

Community College to ADN/BSN Program Articulation Agreements


CSUCI has multiple articulation agreements with many of the California Community Colleges, including (regional campuses) Moorpark College, Ventura College, Santa Barbara City College, Allan Hancock, Pierce College, College of the Canyons and more.
