Second Bachelor's Admissions
California State University Channel Islands is open to second bachelor's applicants for the following Extended University degree completion programs:
- BS Business Online Degree Completion Program
- BS Health Science Online Degree Completion Program
- BS Nursing Online - Track II: ADN/RN to BSN Degree Completion Program
- BA Psychology Online Degree Completion Program
- BS Computer Science Online Degree Completion Program
Admission Requirements
If you are a post-baccalaureate student who holds a recognized bachelor's degree from an acceptable accrediting agency, you may pursue a program leading to a second bachelor's degree in the majors that are approved for you chosen semester of admission. Please see the list of available programs at the top of this page. You must meet all application deadlines for your intended program. For applicants with a degree from outside of the USA, please email international@csuci.edu for guidance.
PLEASE NOTE: The major shall not be the same as your previously awarded degree.
A second bachelor's applicant is admitted to Cal State Channel Islands as a graduate student. Therefore, you are eligible to apply for a second bachelor's degree if you meet all the following admission requirements:
- Have a four-year baccalaureate degree from an institution from an acceptable accrediting agency.
- Be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended; and
- Have satisfied one of the following conditions:
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all undergraduate units, or
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester/90 quarter units from all post-secondary institutions
- Complete lower division major specific requirements for the program you select. Visit the program specific page of your intended program to see the list of lower division major specific courses.
Second baccalaureate students who have earned a recognized bachelor's degree have completed the General Education requirements, American Institutions and language requirements; therefore, the Golden Four requirement is considered met.
Your first bachelor's degree must be awarded by:
- The end of the Summer term before the Fall semester in which you intend to enroll.
- The end of the Fall term before the Spring semester in which you intend to enroll.
