Who are OLLI instructors?

Instructors have special knowledge, background, and skill in the topics they teach. They are carefully screened, and their course proposals are examined by the Dean of Extended University, the OLLI Program Director, and the volunteer members of the OLLI Curriculum Committee. More than half of our instructors have terminal degrees in their areas of expertise and may be current or former university professors. Get to know our current OLLI Instructors!

How are OLLI courses chosen?

Courses are selected by the OLLI Curriculum Committe and OLLI program staff. The CSUCI Dean of Extended University makes the final decision on courses offered each session.

How much are instructors compensated for each course?

Compensation is $1,200 for teaching a 6-week course and $600 for teaching a 3-week course. For Summer Taste of OLLI classes, instructors are compensated $200 per class.

How are OLLI courses different than typical undergraduate or graduate courses?

The OLLI program embraces the idea of learning for the joy of learning. Our membership consists of adults (50 or older) who are taking non-credit, university-level courses for fun! Members bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the classroom. There are no tests, homework, or grades.
